Beyond the Pilot: Moxi’s Hospital Customers Are Choosing to Continue

Moxi’s hospital customers are extending their contracts

Seven multiyear contract extensions put Diligent Robotics’ Moxi in a commercially important conversation: what happens after customers have lived with a robot?

A first deployment creates an opportunity to prove value. Extending the relationship signals a willingness to continue.

In its August results, Serve Robotics, which acquired Diligent Robotics earlier this year, reported seven multiyear hospital contract extensions and two additional hospitals in the first half of 2026.

For a sector often measured by launches and planned deployments, that is a detail worth examining.

The decision after deployment

Moxi handles hospital deliveries such as medications, lab samples and supplies. Its customers experience the practical realities of robot operation: fitting deliveries around staff, navigating busy buildings and keeping workflows moving.

An extension follows that experience. It suggests customers see a reason to maintain the service, although it does not tell us which benefits determined their decision.

That makes continued commitment a useful commercial signal alongside technical capability and new customer wins.

A platform moving forward

On 17 August, Serve also announced the rollout of next-generation Moxi robots to named hospitals, including Endeavor Health Edward Hospital and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The company reports improvements in perception, autonomy and charging, without changes to existing infrastructure.

The earlier contract extensions should not be attributed to those upgrades. Together, however, the announcements show an established customer base continuing its relationship while the platform develops.

These announcements do not provide the extensions’ contract values, the number of contracts eligible for renewal, or financial returns for the customers concerned. Seven extensions therefore establish neither a renewal rate nor proven profitability.

Diligent deserves attention because existing customers are making a decision the wider robotics market should watch closely: to continue.

This is the commercial progress we track in The Humanoid Market Brief - examining what customer commitments reveal about robot adoption beyond the initial deployment.
